One Vision, Four Years Dedication - Front Door & Garage Door Installation
Set in 1 ¾ acres of landscaped grounds, Margot D\s magnificent seven bedroomed detatched residence bears testament to the determination of one woman who knew precisely what she wanted when it came to the realisation of a dream.
What advice would you give to someone embarking on a large scale renovation project?
"I would advise people to resist the temptation to compromise. It might be that your architect has a slightly different idea about certain aspects of the design or your builders give you a thousand reasons why something would be better done another way, but you have to stick to your guns and be creative. At the end of the day its you who will be living there and your cheque book which gets a hammering!"
How did you approach your renovation project?
"Our family outgrew the bungalow in which we'd lived for many years, and as luck would have it the adjoining land with another bungalow became available so we grasped the nettle and went for it. The plan was to keep living in the original bungalow whilst the construction of the new house took place and then pull it down when the main house was complete. The family elected me as 'supervisor' which was daunting as we'd never ever self built before, and hadn't even put up an extension in the past!"
Why did you choose Silvelox as your garage door provider?
"We spent literally hours sourcing and talking to hundreds of suppliers and there were some suppliers who we felt immediately shared our passion and were incredibly proud of their product. Silvelox were one of these suppliers. From the moment we looked at their brochure, we just knew they were precisely what we wanted and would be perfect for our house. We have 6 Silvelox doors in all and each one matches, which was important as we didn't want a hotchpotch of different styles that would compromise the exterior design of our home.
We're delighted with them all, particularly the garage doors as they have no ugly ceiling tracks to clutter up the interiors. Not only do they look superb, they're an absolute pleasure to use, and they add to, rather than detract from the overall design scheme. And as Silvelox carried out the installation that was one less thing to worry about. The fitting went faultlessly, and their team was a delight to work with."
How did you feel at the end of your long journey when the project was completed?
"I love everything about the house, everything's perfect and mostly how we envisaged it. Ok, certain aspects are a little different from the initial plan. But on a project like this, things evolve. You have to look at the possibility of changes because sometimes things don't work out quite as well as they do on paper. But these changes were only minimal. Though I say it myself, I'm very proud of what I achieved and, thankfully, the family all seem to agree - particularly when the Kellogs are abandoned in favour of a pre school dip in the pool!"
