Safe use
Door safety, and your safety, is of prime importance to us.
Silvelox doors fully comply with all European directives on Safety and have many sophisticated active and passive devices ‘built-in’ to ensure safe use.
For example, in motorized garage doors, the door will automatically cease lowering if miniature photocells - linked to a microprocessor - detect the presence of an obstacle. The microprocessor will then reverse the movement so that the obstacle will not be damaged. Also, a tubular perimeter seal between the frame and door acts as a ‘protective space’ should fingers stray there accidentally. The base of the door has an EPDM protective seal, with double tubular external and internal protrusions, to give similar protection at ground level. Furthermore, a Silblock device protects against the door dropping in the event of a power cut.
Similar thought goes into our entrance doors. You’ll notice that all have rounded corners, so there are no sharp edges to do damage should they be bumped into. Additionally, they feature a low-profile threshold to reduce the possibility of trips. Handles, too, are ergonomically designed for comfort and ease of use.
Our double-leaf doors are equally safety-conscious. All moving parts are covered, so there’s nothing to catch yourself on. Electronic versions incorporate an end-of-run control that will stop the closing movement if there’s an obstacle in the way. Enhancing this feature is an infra-red beam that is directed at a photocell. If the photocell senses that the beam has been broken it will cease the closure of the door. So, for instance, even you pressed the ‘close door’ button on the remote control by mistake before your car had passed fully through the doors, they would stop before making contact with the vehicle. Like our entrance doors, all double-leaf doors have finger-protecting rounded corners and low-profile thresholds for trip avoidance.
