Having a home which perfectly reflects your style as well as your lifestyle is an aspiration for many of us and Mark and Louise were determined to make a few changes to their property to ensure that every detail was working perfectly for them.
Of course, the original door was 'fit for purpose', but it just wasn't to our taste. We'd also recently fitted new windows, so the garage and front door no longer matched them and it looked out of place, but the other big reason that led us to make the change; we didn't feel that the door was particularly secure. Our garage is integrated with access straight into the house, cold draughts made the garage and adjoining rooms cooler and certainly not energy efficient. For much of the time, the garage door had to be left open so that our boys could come and go with their bikes, footballs and skateboards, and that just didn’t seem ideal in terms of security.
We really took our time looking around and researching available products. We didn't want to go through the cost and disruption of making the change unless we had found something that would offer a genuine improvement. We were first attracted to the Silvelox garage doors by the pedestrian door feature. For us, it means that the boys can have the freedom to play out, with easy access to their bikes and so on, but the garage door doesn't need to be wide open - keeping out the elements and keeping our home secure. When the pedestrian door’s shut, you wouldn't even know that it was there.
We wanted the whole of the front exterior of the house to coordinate, so that the garage and front doors would sit well with the new windows. Having been impressed with the garage door features offered by Silvelox, we were pleased to discover that the front door could be made by the same company. The choices of finish on offer were also impressive, so that matching to the windows, which were already fitted, was no problem at all. Dealing with just one company for both items saved us time and meant that we didn't have to worry about any matching issues. Overall, finding a company that talked to us about our exact requirements gave us full control over the look of the exterior of our home.
We're really pleased. The pedestrian door feature works so well for us as a family and both doors have given us that feeling of real security we were looking for. Having discussed our requirements, we opted for a front door with two bespoke reflective glass windows. These have lightened up the hallway, but stop people from seeing in, which has retained our privacy. These windows have created an iconic, unique looking front door, which really makes the property and reflects our style.
